May WIPocalypse

Question of the Month: What was the first project you ever stitched? (whether you finished or not)

I started stitching when I was 8.  My great Aunt gave me some stamped pillow cases and dresser scarves.  I did stamped embroidery and crewel embroidery until my late twenties.  Then I discovered counted cross stitch.  Somewhere I do have my finished pillow cases and dresser scarves.  After all my Great Aunt said they were for my hope chest.  And there they remain.

This month I stitched on:

Crane Paradise

Dandelion Fairy Kingdom.  I am so close to finishing page 7.  I will push to get this finished before 6/12/21 as my mother in law will be here then for a visit.

Faces of Faery 90.  I started on the last partial page.  I am going to stitch on this one until it is done.  Hopefully before the end of June.

Bless Our Harvest.  I finished the backstitching on 4/29/21 and this one is done.

More progress on Mingle and Jingle.

Butterfly Fairy Night.  Making slow progress on this one

This is a new start.  Bright Owl Quintet from Cross Stitch & Needlework September 2004.  I started this on 5/2/21.  Each owl will be stitched separately and the name and birth date of my Great Nephew (who will be 2 in November) and for my 2 new Great Nieces one born in April 2021 and one in May 2021. I plan on making them into small banners.  The Owls are sitting on a long branch and it is designed with the beginning branch, 3 middle branches and an ending branch.  I am going to give these to my brother and sister in law as these are all their grandchildren.  I will customize the owls a bit.  Once I get caught up they should be easy to keep caught up on.  My brother does have 9 children so there is a possibility I will stitch alot of owls.

I continued to work on the Toadilly Romantic scissor fob.  I have the front done and starting on the back.  This is in my small pouch that I take to the hospital or when I am in the living room stitching as my other projects are too large to work on in the living room.

I bought this cross stitch book this month after seeing it on several different flosstubes.  I don't usually like to follow the popular patterns but this one did catch my eye.

And I got my April Fabric of the Month from Rogue Stitching.  A very pretty grey.
